Welcome, Fun Float paddler!

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 24th, for the Northwest Indiana Paddling Association’s (NWIPA) oldest event.  Please make note of the following.

·      Bring your tickets with you to the park.  You’re already registered - simply check-in by showing tickets for everyone in your party.

·      Note which wave your ticket shows and try to arrive approximately at that time.

·      PFDs must be worn at all times when on the water.  If you are using your own boat, make sure you bring Coast Guard-approved personal floatation devices (PFD) and paddles.

·      Pull into Hansen Park at 100 East Street, show your ticket to an attendant, drop you boat and gear - we’ll watch it - and then park across the street.  If you’re borrowing one of our boats, just park across the street and walk over to the dock area to check-in.  See map below.

·      We are expecting many participants and a busy launch hour, so the exact time you get on the water may vary. We will send people off from the dock, but if you are comfortable, please consider launching yourself from streamside.

·      Do not go onto Lake Michigan with a NWIPA boat. We also discourage people with their own boats from going onto Lake Michigan, as there will be a lot of motorboat and sailboat traffic. In addition, it is unsafe on the lake without a sea kayak with spray skirt installed.

·      Sweep boats will start back at 1:00 from both Friendship Garden and the harbor to Hansen Park.  All NWIPA boats must be back at the dock by 1:15.

Thanks for joining us for this event.  Here’s hoping the weather will be excellent.  Also, if you’re not already a member, please consider joining NWIPA.
